A McCormick Foundation Initiative

Why News Matters

Big Shoulders Fund (BSF) will introduce news literacy curriculum at four high schools by launching a semester-long news literacy course, ramping up scholastic journalism classes and providing resources and technical assistance to teachers.

BSF will train teachers on curriculum that will assist students to critically analyze news reports, articles and other media for accuracy, point-of-view, veracity and usefulness of media sources.
