826CHI will work with Chicago Public Schools to embed news literacy through the writing of narrative journalism about students’ communities.

About 826CHI

826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.

Impact

  • In 2013, 826 CHI will work with 50 students.
  • 22 educators will be involved in 826 CHI’s writing and tutoring programs.
  • 150, number of teachers who partner with 826CHI.
  • 1,400, number of volunteers from the Chicago community -including professional writers, artists, and teachers.
