A McCormick Foundation Initiative

Why News Matters

McCormick Foundation has selected Education Development Center (EDC) to provide technical assistance to the grantees of its Why News Matters initiative.

The overall goal of EDC’s support will be to build the capacity of each grantee to best serve their constituents. To reach this goal, the team will support grantees’ program planning and evaluation efforts, engage grantees in a community of practice focused on initiative goals, facilitate affinity groups to foster strong working relationships and information-sharing, offer resources and training on topics identified by the grantees, and capture lessons learned/synthesize findings over time to help inform McCormick’s learning agenda.

About EDC

EDC is a nonprofit organization that advances solutions to some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic development. For half a century EDC has collaborated with public and private partners to design, deliver, and evaluate program innovations for use in both formal and informal educational settings from preschool to medical school. We take special pride in developing training and professional development programs, designing products, conducting research and evaluation, and providing services that will benefit those who have traditionally faced obstacles of racial, ethnic, disability, and gender discrimination.
